TRIGGER WARNING! - This Poem references the loss of a loved one.
All I want is one more day,
Is that too much to ask,
Is it too hard for you to do,
Too complicated of a task,
So instead I have to sit here,
My emotions hid by a mask,
As I sit here in my own thoughts,
Gently sipping on my flask,
All I want is one more day,
One more hour or minute you can spare,
All I want is just a moment,
To have my person there,
To have them sit on my lap,
Right here on this old chair,
But instead my lap is empty,
Instead my lap is bare,
All I want is just a moment,
Or a memory at least,
Just one last meal together,
Make it special and have our last feast,
But instead I lie here crying,
Here mourning over the deceased,
I would kill myself tomorrow,
If I could see them once again,
Or travel back in time,
To the way things were back then,
When we were so innocent despite the world around us,
I just want them one more time and I promise I'll make a fuss,
All I want is one more day,
A moment with them around,
Yet here I am instead,
Smiling at the memories buried in the ground.
